Research Billing Manager, Research Billing Compliance

Johanna joined Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Aug 2016, although new to The Partners family, she has had over 10 years of research experience.  Initially beginning her career as a Clinical Research Coordinator in Hepatology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and in Pediatrics at The University of Utah School of Medicine, she transitioned into Research Administration as a Clinical Research Compliance Officer at The University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics.  In Compliance, Ms. Chesley served as the project director for a Clinical Trials Management System; its primary function was to ensure research billing compliance through: interpretation of CMS policy into a research billing workflow.  Currently, she looks forward to learning about new innovations, while at the same time, ensuring compliant research billing at BWH and affiliated institutions.  Johanna received her BA in Sociology and MPH in Healthcare Administration at The University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Johanna enjoys: complex problem solving, collaborating and individually orientated tasks, educating, providing assistance and support to others, practicing yoga, experiencing the world through the eyes of her two young daughters, skiing, road biking, and engaging in dynamic conversations with her husband.
